It's my dads 76th birthday in a couple of days, but we went out to celebrate today.
Firstly, my mum, who is the only driver among us, very kindly agreed to help me get to the Pop Up Shop in St Andrews so I could hand in some of my necklaces and some needle felted bees. Sadly I didn't have time to make anything else for the shop!
Fred, the shop owner was very lovely and I really shouldn't have been so nervous beforehand as it all went smoothly. Hopefully she'll send me a photo when she gets the necklaces on display or maybe we can nip in again at some point.
Afterwards we went to Craigtoun Park again as my dad loves it there. He is very much one who likes to relive old memories and he has lots of memories there over various years and with various people. :)
We did our usual putting:
I was terrible as usual. :D But check me out, wearing a dress and everything! Outside, even! I felt good today... Am completely sunburnt now of course, but that's nothing compared to poor Martin who is in the bedroom with the fan on full blast aimed at his face and a bag of frozen petit pois on his head. It's going to be a grim day for us both tomorrow when it all catches up with us properly.
Not sure who won, but it's usually my mum much to my dads annoyance. ;) Though, Martin's getting really good at it and I think he's the most accurate out of us all! Me, well, I never seem to get any better even though I've been playing since I was little. I have terrible aim and I can't for the life of me judge how hard to hit the ball to get it where it needs to go. It's a good job I play for fun and not to win! I even had a smaller club as the normal sized ones are slightly too long for me... Didn't help my game much, but it was easier to use. :P
Next we went for a little walk and found a few things we'd not seen before:
3 toadstools, which I asked everyone to sit on for a picture, but when my turn came:
Everyone was bored of posing and ready to get up. (Really doesn't take much.) Plus I have Nora Batty tights.
Next we went looking for a wishing well that had been marked on the map board:
But it had no water in it. People had been dropping pennies in though. (Not that I could see, being so short, but other people mentioned it.)
I saw a gate and wondered where it lead:
There were lots of fairy doors on the trees and a large den made of sticks and twigs for children to play in. Reminded me that I've not made a Fairy Bear in a while, that might be on tomorrow's list! :)
We had booked the restaurant for 3pm so had to head back after that. I didn't get any photos of our meals but we all enjoyed it and it was a lovely day spent together.
When we got home I was feeling really good (but very full and very warm) so keen to go for more walks... Preferably on the beach so I could get my feet in the water! And if we were off to the beach, why not take a puppy? :)
He seemed happy to be there!
I was trailing behind because I had my shoes off and it hurts to walk on little shells and stones, so it needs small steps!
Muffin was first in the water. :) He likes it, but gets all crazy and hyper and runs around like a crazy puppy after getting his feet wet!
He had a great time though, as did we! The water was much colder than last time though. Last time it was warm! I wonder if it was the time of day that we went? It was much later than the first time. Might need to keep an eye on these things for future feet paddles!
So yes, a lovely day over all! But feeling very warm and burnt and as I say, we'll pay for it tomorrow with headaches and dehydration. Plus, I may or may not get out of my dress tonight. But it was totally worth it. :)
