Things you (probably) didn't know about me... Part 2.

Part 1 is here if you haven't already read it. :)

1. My dad bought me a computer when I was 17 even though I didn't have much interest in them. I didn't even really know how to use one as I'd missed most of high school due to poor health. I soon started to love it though and I've never looked back since! I've had... Hmmm, let me see... * counting on fingers* 6 since then, but I mainly use an iPad now. My computer only really gets used for games and website building. Which leads me on to:

2. I attempted to build my first website back when the Internet was still pay per minute. I was only allowed online for 1 hour a day, but I remember asking my mum for "just a few more minutes" as I was trying to upload one of my drawings and it was sooo slow back then! :)

3. My favourite game ever is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I played this with my mum when I was a bit younger. She worked night shifts at the time so we'd play it in the middle of the night when she was used to being awake and we giggled for hours, much to my dads (who was trying to sleep!) annoyance. :) We used to have cheese on toast and she'd have coffee. It took us months to complete it and we needed the help of a walkthrough! Martin played it here last year while I watched, was so cute to see it again and to remember little details as we went along.

4. I had a small trampoline when I was young. One of those square ones with a handle that you were supposed to hold onto while you bounced. It rarely got used as a trampoline though. I had it in the house for a while and I'd put pillows on it and stuck round stickers on the corners which were supposed to be buttons, as the trampoline was my spaceship! I'd take Charlie Bear into space with me and we'd have adventures. One of my mums friends broke it one night when we had a barbecue, she went on it, a bit drunk, and managed to rip the fabric! I was really upset!

5. Charlie Bear is the oldest toy that I still have. I believe my sister gave him to me when I was young but I'm really not too sure! Either way, I love him. :) Even now, when I feel low or ill, I will cuddle him for a bit of comfort.

6. I have a weird and very annoying clump of extremely frizzy hair on the back of my head... The rest is fine, just this small bit that is crazy frizzy!

7. When I was little I wanted to illustrate children's books when I was older. I didn't have the skill or patience though, but I came very close to having something published once. I was asked by an American lady if I could do some pictures for a book of poems that she was having printed... I think I did 3 for her, but she stopped all communication and I never heard from her again. She either hated what I made or she took the pictures and ran with them without paying me! I will never know! It put me off art for a long time.

8. I only ever read 2 books while in school, and I ended up "stealing" them both. Well, I say stealing, but I just didn't take them back. I only really started to enjoy reading when I was 15 or so, and being home from school a lot complained to my mum that I was bored and she handed me a copy of The Hobbit... It is and always will be my favourite book. :) I have only read it that one time because I wouldn't want to ruin that first magical experience. It is what got me interested in the fantasy genre. I would draw and paint fairies and elves and it really got my imagination going.

9. This is my 3rd blog I think. This is the second attempt at this particular one. I deleted all the old posts and started from fresh. If I leave things for a long time I find I don't want to go back to it as it was, and wanted to start it again. I'm not trying really hard to keep blogging. Every day if I can!

10. When I was 8, I was told I should get my tonsils out as it would cure the headaches I'd been having since I was 3. I'm really not sure how that would work, but funnily enough, it didn't. I'd never had a sore throat before then but afterwards I always know I'm getting a cold when my throat gets sore first. Side story: my mum brought me some Robinsons Orange juice to drink while I was in the hospital after the operation and no one noticed that I was drinking it without diluting it... I had no idea it needed water! I asked my mum for another bottle as I'd drank it really fast and I noticed I had a bit of a sore tummy too. Oops. :)

11. Most of my things were second hand when I was young and I've always been a bit on the short side, but my parents managed to find me the perfect sized bike. I loved that thing! One day I was playing with a friend near the rubbish skips (which occasionally had "cool stuff" in them) and I left my bike to go play... When I got back, someone had pinched it thinking it was meant for the skip. :( I cried for ages and my parents weren't very happy either. Any bike I had after that was never as good!

12. I used to hate mushrooms. My mum worked in a factory that grew and picked them and she always smelled of them. I ended up working there for a little while when I was 17 or so, and then I always smelled of them too! It was only in the last couple of years, since Martin came back in to my life that I've tried them again and liked them. They go great in pastas, on pizzas, with scrambled eggs, with sausages, on toast, in sauces... I really enjoy them now!

13. I am a big fan of silly music. It always cheers me up when I'm feeling low. Martin and I often burst into song. Our favourite is Hoots Mon! We have a Hoots Mon dance too. :)

14. I can spend whole days just faffing with stuff. Either graphics or photos or writing or games.

15. I like to share, but I am very shy with those that I don't know. I've gotten a lot better at the online talking thing though, and I value my online friends as much as any other friend. I am very lucky in my life, but I need to try harder. The bears deserve more recognition and it is time I tried harder for them! I find it very overwhelming, but maybe it's what needs to happen, so I can grow.

  1. I enjoy reading these random facts about you! They are very interesting and fun to read. I especially like number 3. That sounds like a great memory! For number 15, have you ever thought of marketing your little bears as 'companion friends' for larger dolls (like Blythe or BJDs)? When I first started making bears I was very much shy and just kind of lost about how to market them and try to get them recognized. When I decided to offer them as companion friends everything changed!! I was amazed at the popularity doing them this way!! Let me know if you are interested in something like this or if you want any more information and I will be happy to help you in any way I can. I'm dewdropteddybears on Flickr for more reference or you can contact me via e-mail: jadeweese10@yahoo.com. :) ~Angela

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment Angela. :) I am glad it is fun to read, as it is fun to write! A trip down memory lane and also a good way to get me thinking about my life and what has happened to get me to this point in time!

I haven't thought of marketing the bears as companion friends. I must admit that I really don't know much about dolls, but I have had a look on your Flickr page and oh, that red headed one is lovely! I couldn't decide which of your bears I liked best, they were all great. :) I am interested in anything that could get the bears out into the world a little bit more. :) Do you market them this way on Etsy? I was thinking of opening my Etsy shop again and trying to sell on there as I'm not having much luck on Facebook anymore. My email is riamelin@googlemail.com if you'd rather reply there. :)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your advice and comments!
