I'd been meaning to write another blog post before now, but at the exact right time I got a massive order from a lovely lady and have been busy ever since! :) I was especially grateful as I was feeling a little lost with things lately.
It has been a huge amount of fun making everything, but I have definitely enjoyed having a rest for a couple of days!
First up was something I'd not made in a while, a Tree and Owl. :)
Next was a very pretty Merbear with purple tail and hair! I don't get asked to make these often, but with my love for the sea, they are always fun. Plus purple is my favourite colour, so it couldn't fail! She comes complete with a wooly "sea". :)
After that came something I'd never even considered before... A Betty Boop Bear!
Then it was time for more red, but this time on a penguin. :)
Then we had a day out! The usual stuff we do:
I even got a pretty ball to play with... I was determined to win this time!
I got a hole in one... But I didn't win. I play so badly the rest of the time that it didn't help. ;) But I had a great time none the less!
Then it was back to felting again. :)
Another thing I'd not made in a while! A little blue dragon with a purple moustache.
Then a Black and Tan Dachshund. I still always worry about making dogs, as I find them tricky as I've never really studied them much to understand their anatomy. But I do like that they can sit and stand and lie down with their movable legs. :)
Then came another Beach Bear, this time with pink floppy hat and a pink bag with a starfish on! She is making a sandbear and it is decorated with tiny shells we collected on the beach especially to go with her. :)
Lastly was something rather unplanned and a bit spur of the moment. When the lovely lady asked for a Penguin Bookmark to go with the other penguin, my initial thought was a wet felted flat piece with the penguin needle felted on the front... But when it came to making it it took on a life of its own and I ended up with a mini version of the penguin with a cord from it and a heart on the bottom which slides up and down to fit the book it's marking! Really happy with how it turned out and would love to make more in different styles. Cupcake Bears and Snowbears and Pudding Bears would be such fun!
I've had a lovely past few days, one when we went for a walk along the coastal path, saw our jogger which always makes us happy and had a nice picnic. Then yesterday we had a very long day of bus travel and shopping and eating. Very different from what I'm used to, I don't travel well on buses for a start and I get a little ill and nervous, also not a big fan of cities as they make me feel very small. Martin was amazing. He is incredibly supportive and understanding and amazingly well prepared for things. While I was concentrating on not being sick on the bus, he was holding my hand to soothe me, and he even had a bag ready for if I couldn't help it! We had a break from traveling when we got half way as I needed some air and water, and at that point I felt so bad that I was ready for giving up and not going further. But he takes everything into account and is so thoughtful when he's out doing things on his own that he thought the second part of the journey wouldn't be as bad as the first. Usually I'd not believe it, it's like when people say that something is "just around the corner" when it's actually miles away... but I believed him because he is so considerate. I couldn't explain it to him at the time, but I was so grateful. I feel so lucky and it makes my heart swell just to think of it!
When we got to where we were going I treated myself to some new shoes, because I really don't buy things very often, always worrying about money and not being able to justify things. Had a bit of a shock when I tried on the size I thought I'd need though, they were far too big! I actually ended up buying 2 sizes smaller than what I would have expected... Just shows how often I buy nice things, I clearly had no idea what size I was. :P

aww, I totally understand about crowds and citys ... I get panic attacks and now Steve just takes my hand and leads me to a quiet place ... its so good to have someone so supportive :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to get you to make me a little dragon once I move to Wales, its so cute and Steve really loves Dragons x
I'm definitely a quiet country girl! I was never really taken to cities when I was younger so I feel very tiny in them and I really don't do well with all the people. We are very lucky to have such wonderful men in our lives! :)
DeleteI would love to make you a little dragon, just let me know when you're ready. You must be so excited about moving! Not long now? :)
Thanks so much for your comment. Xxx
