Simple joys, entry 32.

Joys for today have been:

When we parked near the fish and chip shop today, my mum went to get a ticket for the car, she got back, sat in the drivers seat and was about to shut the door when the ticket blew out the door! I looked under our car but couldn't see it and she reversed to give me a better look... Still no ticket. We were sitting there wondering what to do next when the car next to us drove away. We all turned to peer at his parking spot to see if it was there; it wasn't. But! It was under the next car over! Just as my mum was getting out to try and grab it, it blew off again and we thought it was gone forever. She did find it however and stuck it to the window, but the darn thing was having none of it after having it's bit of freedom and off it went again! She managed to grab it yet again and my dad ended up with it on his side. Was all pretty funny. :) It really is the simple things...

Also today, my dad mentioned that we never went looking for blue glass anymore, like we used to. If you've been reader of my blog for a while you'll know that it's a sort of family tradition that we have: We go to a beach and we try to outdo each other by finding the biggest piece of blue glass we can find that day. Mum nearly always wins, (and she WILL push people out of the way if she spots a nice bit!) but once, just once, my dad (who is blind as a bat mind you!) found a huge piece. It was the bottom of a bottle and the biggest piece of blue (which seems quite difficult to find, hence the fun of it) we've ever seen. :)

Martin and I had been talking about this too, just the day before. My eyes are trained for seeing bits of blue and even walking down the street if I see something blue I have to double-take to see if it's glass. ;)

So, we went to the beach, and we looked for glass. :) There wasn't much, but I did find this small piece, and my dad liked the other bit because it was chunky, even if not quite blue:
