Today the weather was decent so we went out for a walk. I was completely overdressed with a wooly hat on and everything... Though to be fair, that was mostly to hide my messy hair. :) I love days like this, everyone comes out. There were lots of dog walkers with happy dogs in the sea, there were lots of yachts in the sea doing some sort of race. The were loads of golfers too and walkers and people out with their kids. It was lovely. :)
We walked through the golf course and to the park. It's not a huge park, but it's a really nice quiet place to sit. There are lots of benches and every tree is different to the one beside it. Lots of robins live there too, I always like to see them. They are such a pretty bird!
I found this on the way back:
On the way back through the golf course, we took a different path and went down the beach way, it is a longer walk but we stopped for a bit and I had a little lie down as the world was spinning just a little. This was my view:
And some of the sea on the way home. :)
The icing on the cake for me, was seeing our jogger! Now, this will need a little explaining, but it's something that means a lot to us. Let me take you back, over a year ago.
I was living in a tiny flat in a fishing village a few miles from where we are now. Martin had been to see me a few times already and we were looking to live together but clearly we needed a bigger place to live! We were out one evening in the next village along, we'd been eating fish and chips and on the way home stopped to have a little look in an estate agents window to see what was available. I am not a big fan of flats and was quite keen to get away from them and into a little house of some sort, but I am quite specific about needing a quiet and friendly village. (Being so shy and a bit anti social!) We never thought we'd find anything ticking all the boxes in our price range, but that night, we saw an advert for this place. It was a bit more than what we wanted to be paying, but thought it was worth a look as it was in a nice village.
The day we came here was the first day I'd been on a bus in goodness knows how many years. I was quite scared and excited in equal measure!
Martin had preloaded a map onto his iPad and once we were in the general area we stopped to look to see where we needed to be. We stopped here:
Which, now, happens to be a 2 minute walk from our house, a place which we walked to often that first year, often at night when we needed a breath of fresh air.
Anyway, the first people we ever saw here were, lots of dog walkers, and a jogger. The jogger had just come up a bit of a hill and he looked knackered but he kept on going. (Just 1 minute after I took these photos.) We stared in awe as he passed us there, with our map open and taking in the views. He wasn't the youngest of people and had shoulder length bushy hair and bowed legs. Very distinctive. :) We saw him again the second time we came to visit the house, then quite often once we'd moved in! It was comforting, almost like we knew one person... A familiar face. :)
There was a time when we didn't see him so often though, but one day we were walking along the coast, which, as far as we know, was not the joggers usual route. We hadn't seen him in ages and we'd always been looking for him when we were out. We were just walking along the coastal path one day and there he was just walking along, with a lady, in normal clothes! I recognised his legs and the way he moves, and then when I looked up I saw the hair. I nearly squealed that day!
I think we've barely seen him twice this year, which is a shame but it was so nice to see him today! We were worried he'd been ill, or worse.
We get tempted to ask his name sometimes, and I had visions of us waiting for him in the cold, with a Christmas Card with "Our Jogger" written on it, ready to give it to him when we see him.
Oh, by the way, my sale details are going to be posted on Facebook very soon, so pop over there to have a look. :)
