Simple joys, entry 68.

Today I stayed in bed for most of the day to help me recover, but I managed to craft a lot of things!

I finally got to play with my clays and I already have a shopping list of things I still want to buy.

This was my little bed setup!

The tray is a bit rubbish, it is very cheap plastic, but it does the job and I like that it has some separate areas to put things in... That's the only reason I bought this particular one. I'd not seen any others quite like it.

Various tools on the side, most of which I'll never need or use, but since this was my first time I wasn't sure which I'd like best. I think I reached for 2 of them most often. I am waiting on some stylus type tools from Mr Postie, hopefully they'll arrive soon as I think they'll be useful.

I got a terracotta tile for working on as I read you can put it straight in the oven without having to move things first and risk ruining them... I haven't baked them yet, so we shall see tomorrow! I think I'll have to do a couple of things separate as they are a lot thicker than everything else.

The first thing I made was a little snowman:

All my clays that I have so far are the special ones, either metallic (gold and silver) or with glitter, and one translucent. For this little guy I used a mix of glittery white mixed with some translucent. He has gold accents as I didn't have black, or orange for his nose. Oh and I have him a wee scarf.

I am quite fearful of burning them which is one reason I've not baked them yet!

The other things I made were: a little heart with some spare white and red mixed to make pink as to not waste anything, a candy cane, a Holly thing which has little holes in it to hang as a bear necklace or something, a little Christmas tree, a bear-sized snowflake pendant and a mug of hot chocolate! (Which is a mix of gold, white and translucent for the chocolate.)

All in all, lots of fun, and quite relaxing compared to felting. No stabbed fingers, which I liked a lot. :) If the baking goes well, I shall be making more wee things over the weekend and clearly I need more colours of clay so oh dear, I'll have to go shopping for supplies! ;)

Also today I have been working on another elephant. I love this colour, which I have now ran out of so more shopping required!

She has all her parts, just needs toes and a ribbon/button adornment and to be joined together and she's done. :) Next on my order list is another hare! But I think I'll try and squeeze in a Pudding bear for the second prize winner of my giveaway too, and a hamster for a charity raffle. Those might happen on Sunday, I think tomorrow is a clay baking day once the elephant is done!

Also had some tv time with My Darling, we started a 6-part mini series which seems quite good so far.

Very tired, and have a splitting sore head, but it was a productive day. :)
