I recently emailed someone from a Facebook business that I've been following for a while now. We hadn't really spoken properly before but she is the daughter in law of a very good online friend of mine and she is a very talented papercutter. I admire anyone who has a steady enough hand and incredible patience to be able to do things like that!
Well, my thinking was that we could team up to do something together. I would design something and she could use her amazing papercutting skills to cut it. I didn't think she would have the time as she is very busy with her own designs and her young family also.
But to my surprise she said that she would be interested! And so our businesses have teamed up to do "Miniature Monday" where we will sell a one if a kind piece of art. :) It has been a lot of fun and quite tricky sometimes too to make sure that when I'm designing it won't just fall apart when she cuts it! I feel I'm getting better with the more I design and I hope to make many more. :)
First we needed a little logo for our collaboration, so I made a few designs. We chose this one:
These were the other options, all using elements from both of our business. The little Crafty Calf from her logo and a bear from mine:
Then before I knew it (she works very fast!) she had cut this one already. :)
Isn't it wonderful? It's been so exciting to see them go from idea to design to finished product!
Next up was this one:
And then this one, which is my absolute favourite and I might need to beg her to cut another so I can buy one for myself. ;) I absolutely love love love it and I have stared at it for what must be hours!
I have other designs made too, and hope to make more very soon, but I have been neglecting my needle felting what with getting new windows put in and having to pack stuff away to safety. I really need more time and more energy to be able to do all the things I would like to do! Here's a little snipit of what's to come:
Stay tuned, Monday is not long away and the first design will be for sale. Remember these are all one of a kind so you'll need to be fast to grab them!
You can find Sharron and her wonderful work on her Facebook page here: The Crafty Calf and her website is: thecraftycalf.co.uk
Thanks for reading my little blog,
